Yard Drainage Fixes

Privacy Policy

Short answer

You can use every page and every calculator on this site without giving us anything. If you write to us we keep your email address, whatever you type, and — only if you tick the box — permission to pass your details to one contractor we name for you first. We never collect phone numbers, we never sell anything, and you can have it all deleted by asking.

Yard Drainage Fixes is run as a sole proprietorship based in North Carolina, United States. Questions about anything below go to privacy@yarddrainagefixes.com, and that is also the address to use if you want your information deleted.

What you can do without giving us anything

Reading any page, and using any calculator or tool, requires no account, no sign-in, and no contact details. Nothing on this site is gated behind an email address.

What we collect when you write to us

Most pages have a box inviting you to describe your yard and ask a question. If you use it, we receive:

  • Your email address — so we can reply.
  • What you typed — your question and whatever you tell us about your property.
  • The page you were on — so we know what you were reading.
  • Your ZIP code, only if you choose to add it on the confirmation step.
  • Whether you ticked the contractor box, described below. It is unticked by default.

We do not ask for and do not collect phone numbers. We do not ask for your name, street address, or any payment information.

That message is delivered to our own email inbox by Resend, an email delivery service, and it is stored in that inbox. There is no customer database behind this site.

Sharing your details with a contractor

We are not contractors and we do not do the work. We also do not sell leads, and no company pays to appear in anything we show you.

If — and only if — you tick the optional box, you are giving us permission to pass what you described to a contractor near you. Even then:

  • We tell you who it is by name first, and you can say no.
  • It goes to one contractor at a time, never broadcast to several.
  • Leaving the box unticked has no effect on whether we help you.

If you never tick it, your details are never sent to anyone.

Information that stays in your browser

The numbers you enter into the calculators — slope, area, soil, rainfall, quantities — are worked out in your browser and are not transmitted to us. The "copy a link to this result" feature builds a link containing those numbers; the link only exists if you create and share it.

The contractor outreach tracker saves your progress in your browser's local storage on your own device. Clearing your browser data erases it, and it never reaches us.

Two tools that do send data to our server

Two tools cannot work entirely in your browser, and it is worth being explicit about them:

  • The drainage quote analyzer. The quote you upload — a PDF or a photo — is sent to our server and passed to OpenAI to be read and summarised.
  • The contractor outreach builder. The problem, location, and area you type are sent to our server and passed to OpenAI to draft the message wording.

In both cases the content is processed to produce your result and is not stored by us afterwards. Do not upload documents containing information you would not want processed by a third-party service — a contractor's quote is fine; a bank statement is not.

Analytics

We use Google Analytics to see which pages people read and which tools get used. It records things like the pages visited, approximate location, and the kind of device, and it sets cookies in your browser. We do not connect analytics data to anyone who writes to us.

How long we keep things

Messages sit in our email inbox as long as the conversation is useful, in the same way any email you send someone does. Nothing is kept in a separate database, because there isn't one.

Having your information deleted

Email privacy@yarddrainagefixes.com and ask. We will delete the message and any reply thread, and tell you when it is done. You do not need to explain why, and asking does not affect any help we have already offered.

Children

This site is written for homeowners and is not directed at children. We do not knowingly collect information from anyone under 13.

Changes

If we change how any of this works, we will update this page and the date at the top. If a change is significant, it will be described here rather than quietly reworded.
