Yard Drainage Fixes

Terms of Use

Short answer

This site gives general educational information and planning estimates about yard drainage. Using it does not create a professional relationship, nothing here is a quote or a substitute for someone standing in your yard, and any work you commission is a contract between you and that contractor.

Yard Drainage Fixes is run as a sole proprietorship based in North Carolina, United States. By using this site you accept the terms below. Questions go to privacy@yarddrainagefixes.com.

What this site is

Educational information about why yards hold water and what the options are, plus calculators that produce planning estimates. It is written for homeowners trying to understand a problem and have a better conversation with whoever they hire.

What this site is not

We are not engineers, surveyors, geotechnical consultants, or licensed contractors, and we do not inspect properties. Nothing here is professional advice for your specific property, and reading it or writing to us does not create a professional or client relationship.

Drainage depends on grade, soil, rainfall, what is buried in your yard, local rules, and how well the work is done. Those cannot be assessed from a web page, so no outcome described here is guaranteed.

Calculator results are estimates

The calculators apply standard formulas to the numbers you enter. They are useful for sizing a job and sanity-checking a quote. They are not quotes, engineering calculations, permit documents, or a substitute for a site assessment. Costs vary widely by region, access, and season. Check anything load-bearing, anything involving a retaining wall over a few feet, and anything near a septic system or foundation with a qualified professional before you build.

Always have utilities located before you dig. In the United States that means calling 811.

If we help you get quotes

Where we offer to help you gather comparison quotes or look over a quote you already have, it is exactly that — help understanding numbers. We are not a party to any work that follows.

  • We do not vet workmanship and do not guarantee any contractor's work.
  • Any contract for work is between you and that contractor, and so is any dispute.
  • We cannot make a contractor respond, and we will tell you plainly if nobody does.
  • Nobody pays us for placement in anything we show you.

Verify licensing, insurance, and references yourself before hiring anyone.

Writing to us

Ask about your own property. Do not send confidential information, anything belonging to someone else, or documents you do not have the right to share. We may use the substance of a question — with anything identifying removed — to improve the guidance on the site, because the questions people actually ask are the best guide to what is missing.

We reply when we can, usually within a couple of days, and sometimes the honest answer is that we cannot help.

Content

The words, diagrams, and calculators here are ours. You are welcome to link to any page, quote a short passage with attribution, and use results for your own project. Republishing pages wholesale, or copying the tools, is not permitted.

Limitation of liability

The site is provided "as is", without warranties of any kind. To the fullest extent permitted by law, we are not liable for any loss or damage arising from use of this site, its calculators, or any decision made in reliance on it — including work you commission after reading it.

Governing law

These terms are governed by the laws of the State of North Carolina, United States.

Changes

We may update these terms; the date at the top will change when we do.
